Well, it won't have as much power as the TB42 but it would be fairly close if it's a good 253.

Might be worth it if you happen to have a 253 sitting there and you are definitely going to follow through with the stroker, but realistically I'd just wait until you have a proper V8 ready and do it in one go.

Would you be able to get it legal anyway? Are there any 253s new enough to be legal in a GQ without going to straight LPG?

Just my 2 cents worth.

Yeah i do happen to have a reco'd 253 sitting at work with a small cam, and i intend to run a straight gas setup :) i just thought get it all going, iron out the bugs, and take my time to build a decent stroker that will rev all day long :D

Well, once you have the 253 in you will have a powerful motivation to get the real motor finished and fitted ;)

the 253 would be what u call a power plant, by the tome u spent ur $ on the conversion. time & labour & hassels in changing it over, just save ur pennies & get a super charger or something like that instead?

That is a good point. Looking at those figures it is just not worth going for a 253. If you want to go a V8 use a 308 instead. If you dont want to get a 308, use the money you where going to spend on the conversion for a ford injection upgrade if it is not allready injected and get a supercharger or turbo setup. I think the horse power and tourque would be better this way then a strocked 253.
