Pros - get flex obviously

Cons - Axle wrap
Universal angles
Legality (if it's to be driven on road)

plus the buggy leafs wont be designed for load so your ute wont be able to carry jack shit any more, unless you add load carrying leaf's, but then your buggy suspension wont flex as well anymore and will probably be closer to the suspension you have now.

another con - can be unsafe if driving down steep hills (i.e. suspension can unload).

Wouldn't that be the same as anyone that owns a coil suspension rig that doesn't have the coils retained ?

I have a traction bar fitted to avoid axle wrap, and the tray is probably big enough to fit a briefcase on so I'm not worried about load carrying and as for legality all you need to do is be able to lock them into home position and they can be engineered.

REALLY GOOD idea to fit a fairly tight center limiting strap!

i'm looking at doing the same thign to the rear of my lux soon. but instead of usign a buggy leaf i'm going to use a modified suspension link of a patrol or sumthin. i am gonna do it with a trac bar ifs rears reset low with 2 inch lift blocks. I'm hoping it will give enough compression and drop while not beign to prone to unloading. then its a matter of making guid plates ont he chasis so that if the spring compressors whiel the arm is lowered it whille move back fluch with the chasis rail and be able to be pinned off. any thoughts

As far as i no you make a normal suspension mount with a small link
normal bushes etc placed so that your shackels are 25-35deg. also
remembered/heard that extended shackles arent necessary cause
most likely 3/4 will provide mm lift

question:
Would you use small a bumpstop to stop the arm clanking on the chassis
under compression or some ziptied rubber?

If you can find some photo's of screwy's 3/4 rear, he had some cable ties and rubber on his chassis rail to stop the noise.

thats what i'm gonna do either that spray on subber ####...can get ti through work or jsut some normal rubber sikaflexed on...and i wouldnt be runnign extended shackles even with the ifs rears because i can change the placement of she shackle angle when i am making the new mounts

bingo...

how long would it take to wear through the rubber i wonder?
spose over time you would get used to it tho.

the spray on stuff might nto last that long but if u think abotu it you dont want movement in the arm/leaf when pinned and when off road there woudl be little wear so it coudl last a while

You could make it so either the pins go through the arms with a tight tolerence, as long as that doesn't weaken the arms. Or pin it underneath the arms tightly.

i woudl do it so that under the arm is 2 types of rubber a softer one directly on the chasis and a harder wearing one on top of that.the soft one so with load on it compres's abit and u get a tight fit with the pin and the harder rubber so it dont wear away
