Hey guys and gals im am about to invest in some new tyres for my 100 series land cruiser and i dont know weather to go with Cooper STs or BF Goodrich A/Ts. what do you recon and why?

Personally, I'd go the S/Ts. Had them, loved them.

If you're going to drive hard enough to rip lugs off S/Ts, BFG A/Ts aren't a good option for you anyway.

mtr grip well but the sidewalls do tear.

x2... they also have DuraWall, which makes the walls pretty strong.. stornger than a lot of others out there...

i was also considering the cooper STT's they sound like a good tyre are they noisy on road? what are they like?

you'll hear a slight humm from under the 100 series but nothing to serious... if your an old boring man who loves splitties and a/t's they may bother you but i wouldnt think so.....

Ive got the STTs and they're awesome, ideal if you want something with a bit more grip than all terrain but still want something that performs on road.

Good in the wet and super quiet for a mud tyre.

Got them. Love them. Never been disappointed by the grip, but I'm not a hardcore wheeler (not by OL standards. :lol: )

I don't think you've done enough research. Considering BFG A/Ts and STTs? They're not exactly aimed at the same market segment. What do you use your 'Cruiser for? I'd say they're at opposite ends of the "tourer tyre" spectrum - both good quality tyres, but aimed at different conditions.

I think the ST and ST/C are the same pattern, only different compounds. The ST/C is "Cut and Chip resistant" for use on rough roads, and Cooper claim it won't last as long as the standard ST on bitumen. The ST/C is only available in a few sizes.

I have been running the BFG AT KO's for a few years now, and they are really good on dry tracks, sand, outback and all round road use.
They are pretty much crap in sloppy mud, so there is an argument here for running 2 sets of tyres.
I run BFG AT' on nice shiny alloys for road/ touring/outback use (I travel the outback for 6-8 weeks of the year, every year since 97)
A set of Mongrels/boggers/irocks/swampers on cheap rims which get bent, scratched, abused on weekends away with da boys, or any other aggressive pattern tyres.
1 tyre is not great for everything. Jack of all trades = master of none
