its a holden 253 was told that its from a commadore.The engine number is OR774266

Im not sure if you can do it.. But the RTA keeps track of engine numbers and the car they are in.

They might be able to tell you what type of vehicle it was from...

then again.. they aren't too helpful sometimes

Try your holden dealer to see if it is on their system. If they mention privacy...inform them you just want to know what model car it was originally fitted to not the owners details.

It worked for me with a Nissan engine but that was years ago...

which end is the bowl off the sump . if its at the front off the engine its comadore and one thats at the back it 's hq to wb , all swap between all 253's and 308's

the first letter is a Q not an O, signifies that its from the hq range (red motor). Q desination went all the way thru the red motor range till the end. The next letter R says that it is a 253, if it was a 308 it would be a T

I agree with Paul, but the first letter keeps on changing to identify model, my HZ Kingswood was "ZR", My LH Torana is "HT". The one to get is the "HZ" out L34 Torana, stronger but like rocking horse sh%t.

ok i read the number is the dark and rain last night just went out and had a look turns out it is QR. ;) Thanks guys for all the info

Turns out to be a red motor from a 1 toner

Good to hear but how did you ascertain that it was out of a one tonner?

any idea if there is one that can tell you the models the 350 chev engine prefixes are out of???

my 308 is a VT engine number... so VB commodore ;)

curious as to wat the engine number of my chev is as to how old the motor is..... :?
