which transfer??
okey im doing alot of planning at the moment for a big build next year and now im looking at which transfer i should use.
At the moment im thinking of running a 3.9L EFI rover V8 with the ZF 4HP22 auto G/box, now i dont know which transfer(s) to use as i will be getting dual transfers with one set housing crawler gears of some sort. it will be going into a Bundera and i want the gearing down as low a possible for rock crawling!!
I was thinking of either a patrol or a 80s but still not clear which would be the best to use and which one has the better ratios.
cheers

What wheelbase are you planning on? - 42s on a stock bundy wheelbase would not be great.evanstaniland wrote:prob 42" and GU diffs not sure what centres will be in them or what i should look for!!![]()

Run a MD 40% reduction LT230, will bolt straight up, and probably chase 4.8 for your GU diffs.

If you go GU manual, with twin cases and gearmaster gears, you can get 141.58:1 with 4.1 diffs... that would drop further if u put in 4.6/4.8 R&P

4.6 can be bought genuine nissan, but 4.8 are aftermarket IIRC

is it possible to run dual transfers with the LT230?? would you need to run two of them or what?+dj_hansen+ wrote:LT230 is fawkin strong... no troubles running one in a comp car. For ease or use, that will prob end up being the best option for you as less rooting around to adapt stuff to your ZF gearbox.
LT230 with Maxi-Drive gears would be sweet, and take a pounding.
if so can you get the gearing down lower in one of them (lower than 40%)???
cheers

It would be easier to use an Ashcroft crawler/underdrive with an LT230, than twin transfers.evanstaniland wrote:is it possible to run dual transfers with the LT230?? would you need to run two of them or what?+dj_hansen+ wrote:LT230 is fawkin strong... no troubles running one in a comp car.
