5vzfe prado vs 5vzfe hilux can I convert?

Post by GBC »

I know there are physical differences at the top of the motor, and that Toyota made something smaller to fit the hilux engine bay.
My question is, now that I've done a 2" body lift, can I install the prado intake and have a kw upgrade that easily?

5vz from prado to lux

Post by mmaaxx »

g'day mate,

Yes you can. The reason the 5vz was changed for the hilux was because of the height of the intake manifold and being able to close the bonnet. This and the fact that the prado was constant 4x4 where the hilux was 2 wheel drive most of the time and the japanesee thought that the extra 10 kw would be too much. Go figure, with the power of the new lux's V6. And if the prados v6 was slightly taller, why couldnt they just put a bonnet bulge on the lux.

any chance of posting a pic of your rig?
why you changing engines for? has the v6 shit itself already?

G'day,

wouldn't have a clue how to paste pics here, but if you'd enlighten me I'd be happy to.

Yes, I was only interested in replacing the intake - motor is fine - Does the computer, 02 sensors etc have to be changed? or do I just bolt it in and reap the rewards?
