Well what can I say - it was a great event, the four kiwis including myself had a ball watching the event unfold. We followed group D around and if anybody wants some pics let me know as I have approx 800 of them. Can burn them onto CD and post over to you if you let me know what truck numbers you want pics of.

Our biggest complaint was the dust and the flies. Hell your roads are straight and boring, just good old red dust especially when you are in a convoy as we were. Then once you stopped and got out of your trucks, the bloddy flies would swarm on you.

Great trip leader - Wayne Jackson and helper Paul ?

Biggest cheers must go to the kiwi truck 42 Roger McKay and Grant Guy who winched Alison Grant and Sandy ? across the river at Viewmont FOUR times as Sandys winch packed up. Unfortunitly there were no proffesional photographers to catch the action. Alison's comment when they got to the finish in first (Roger) and second place(Sandy) was - "THOSE BLODDY KIWIS ARE AWESOME" - yes they beat the others across the river with Rogers PTO winch pulling both trucks together

Luckly I have it all on my camera/pc

Thanks again to all those concern from the 22 kiwis who came across the ditch to visit the outbacks

Fantastic pics!

We had an awesome time and learnt heaps from the best.
Thanks to everyone in Group A, and many others we met on Wednesday and Saturday for making the event so unforgetable.

We snapped our pinion second day in and the guys from Silver City were awesome and helped us to rebuild. We missed a few stages and then opted not to do the mud and drove our family wagon home to Brisbane arriving last night. The stages we completed were fantastic, loved the sand and GPS stages and met some truly wonderful people, look forward to doing it again!!

I would have to say we are better for the experience,
Car 41

Those night Pics from the mud are fantastic. If you have anymore of those dont be scared in posting them.
We did abit of work on the mood lighting, will have to see what we can organise for next year. We did want to cut a hole in a tree in the Lagoon and burn it but forgot about it. It would have looked cool as a candle.

Its one of the hardest things to set up. As there is a couple of safty concerns with getting people to close. As we had Flying finishs (the HP guys only made 3rd after coming out of the mud). And the winching sections where so long, as the bigest winch had teh potential to be 100m long.

One thing we forgot about was spectator photo oputunities. We thought of the media guys but not the spectators. So after being made aware of it. We set up another spot for them on the arvo stage (hope it worked). As its not real Practicle to have more marshalls for that area, but we where down to 1 marshall in that area of the main lagoon at some stages. But the spectator leaders where good and made things easier.

There where some other spots that would have been good for pics. But it just wasnt real safe to get people in and out to them.
But hopefully there will be some good shots of Cass on the fast sections as we got Evan (video man) out on the Quad bike (he was wrapped with the fotage).
