Portal Hubs Axles Info required please.
Hello all, I am very interested in buying portal hubs for my 1993 Toyota Hilux 4x4 vehicle, it has the solid front axle, I have already fitted the new ARB Lockers front and rear as well as The Marlin Crawler and the twin shifter, this vehicle has an auto box with the 7MGE fuel injection engine.
Thus I know that some guys in Australia have already fitted these portal axle hubs to their Landrovers and Range Rovers, however I am looking for a supplier to be able to either manufacture or supply me these items for my Hilux.
Please help me with this request, I live in South Africa and we do not have this type of business that can supply these items.
Thankyou, you can also contact me by email to Longdrop@xsinet.co.za[/b]

Just a Toyota Hilux 4x4 with a few mods, nothing too extreme.
This is the only place globally that I know of even planning this type of thing ...
Hello Edward,
The Portal Axles are currently in the development stage for the Nissan Patrol. The final prototypes are not too far off being finalised and fitted to the managers personal vehicle. They will be treated extremely harshly over numerous terrains such as mountains and desert for long term wear and strength testing. This must be done before they can possibly be released to the public, and unfortunately this does take time.
It will then take a little longer to change the designs to suit Landcruiser and Hilux.
The idea behind this conversion will be a change-over solid axle conversion. Lift and support vehicle, unbolt solid axle assemblies and roll them out. Then simply roll new axles under, attach and refit wheels. It is being done this way as the ends of the axles and their housings require some modification for extra strengthening.
Pricing is currently not available, not even a ball-park figure.
The website will be updated with working links in the Portal Axle area, as soon as information becomes available. 4WD Magazines will also feature this information when available.
Regards,
Stephen Wilson

Do you have access to Mercedes unimog parts over your way, might be easier to fit mog axles if they are more readily available. Volvo also had portal style axle as well. Also Hummers have portal boxes that have been adapted to fit other axles in the states.

in fact $14k, which includes the portal boxes, brake lines, brackets, stronger axles and any other miscellaneous stuff. maxi drive lockers (no need for axles which normally part of kit) another $1200 eachReddo wrote:best bet is to adapt volvo or Mog portal boxes to existing diff housings and to get new axles to suit....
Rover portals cost 12-15k per set in Aus, without diff locks
