I've heard of some guys replacing the 7mm studs & nuts with Unbreako bolts or doing the 10mm stud conversion.
Have a look in the Bible area there is a how to section to fix this problem.
I'm about to have Cheezy fit a 75 diff under mine and I've been sussing this out too.

has anyone iquired on hwo much it woudl eb for an engineering place to make up some studs from chromoly? the studs themselfs are easy to make woudl just be the material that might cost ya
84lux-project. A-frame, 350 chev, turbo 350 auto, duals, rears up front, crossover, twin locked and a 118" wheelbase
probably more expensive than fitting 10mm studs.batcho101 wrote:has anyone iquired on hwo much it woudl eb for an engineering place to make up some studs from chromoly? the studs themselfs are easy to make woudl just be the material that might cost ya
Studs are about $2ea from toyota, then you need someone to drill your axle flange, or do it yourself if you have the ability to grind a drill to the correct taper.
You need the collets to go with them as well that what expensive from toyota. I made a cutter up from a drill and it dont work too well . Very steep taper, with only 2 flutes on the drill it moves around/chatters and the holes arnt round and the axle is tough material aswell. I had a 4 flute cutter specialy made for this task and get purfectly matched holes to the collets for a strong connection. The cutter cost me lots of $$$$$$ so i dont lend it out as it could be easyly damaged in a tough axle if the speed and cutting lube arnt right.Shadow wrote:probably more expensive than fitting 10mm studs.batcho101 wrote:has anyone iquired on hwo much it woudl eb for an engineering place to make up some studs from chromoly? the studs themselfs are easy to make woudl just be the material that might cost ya
