exhaust for sd33t

Post by 84mksd33t »

hey guys

need to do the exhaust on my 84mk patrol SWB

I currently got the stock exhaust minus the muffler (it met my angle grinder just under the passenger seat

I want a 3" rom turbo back to my diff - then maybe 4" from there out...

Should i run a muffler? Or not? I am thinking of even getting a rice cannon to take the piss a little bit :P

I am doing the mandrel system regardless...

What would the legalities be of running a sidepipe?

I love the sound of it without a muffler - its like music to my ears :)

Sidepipe has to vent on the driver's side, and must be past the last internal seam of the body (to prevent fumes coming back into the cab)

and no muffler!

Best size would be a 3" eh?

Should i run the resonator in the middle of the system? OR at the rear?

Should i order a resonator from ebay? or just use what the exhaust shop suggests?

I still want it to sound like a truck, the sd33t sounds gorgeous :)

Funny timing - I have a 3 inch mandrel bent straight thru with no mufflers zorst I took off my 84 SWB turbo diesel this weekend hey.... only had it a few months but sounded hot - rev's came up easily and it was smoother all round - I had mine dump just over the diff, not too noisy but had a nice note and good whistle to it I must admit!..... now I don't have a turbo diesel so PM me if you wanna buy it.... I will sell it off cheap as ey.

2.5 inch is still a tad restrictive compared to 3 inch but you sure can notice the difference hey.

I have a 1986 Mk LWB SD33T I am currently running a 2.5" straight through pipe with a hotdog on it.. It sounds like a Mac truck... very beefy sounding and the turbo whine through the hotdog sounds awesome !!!
