Air Con Woes

Air Con Woes
Note: I have done a search, but was unable to find what I wanted.
I went to get my air con re-gassed yesterday, but was told that there is something wrong with the system. As the guy is not an Auto-electrician he could not tell me what. But basically, it is not leaking, it is just not cooling.
Is this a common problem with F300's? What should I be looking out for?
Thanks!

Well...had my first 36degree day for the year yesterday, which reminded me that my air con is still buggered.
Did some investigating and realised the following:
When I switch on the air con, I do not hear a click (like I do in any other car), and the engine idle stays the same.
So I am guessing that the switch is gone?, or am I thinking too simplistic?

If the system has no gas in it, the compressor (the click you hear and the reason the idle drops) will not cut in. If you have no gas in your AC (from the sounds of it you dont) then the compressor wont be cutting in when the AC button is on and the fan switched on.Sneezing7 wrote:Well...had my first 36degree day for the year yesterday, which reminded me that my air con is still buggered.

Do you know or have access to AC pressure gauges. I used to do heaps of AC in a previous job, might be able to help you if you can get some readings, or if its out of gass - get a re-gass and dye and see what happens.
