megasquirt program
Hi
Installing megasquirt into my rangie 91 3.9 v8 . Does anyone have a running program that I can drop on there to fire it up for the first time .
Want to check the computer and wiring is all good before I mess with it and it would be a bugger tring to get it to run without succes to fine a comp fault .
Cheers

Hi Tom
MSII controls an IAC, but only based on coolant temperature - not closed loop control of idle speed. It also does timing, but currently only has one output to control a coil, or a distributorless system like Ford EDIS, or GM DIS.
My apologies if you already know this...
I'm thinking about using MSII to inject a 4 cylinder - any idea if there's a MS distributor in Aus?

MS 1 (extra version firmware) will do idle air and timing - wasted spark or dizzi, but if you are going to buy a ki,t V2 is the go - lots more support for different spark setups. V1 involves board modifications and only the ford edis has decent support. V2 is a more robust ecu also.RaginRover wrote:does you mega squirt manage you idle air control valve and you timing?
Where did you source the kit from - I have been interested in this for a while but was waiting for a version that would control the IAC and do the timing.
Any info would be great
Cheers

I've sent a few emails off to various suppliers in the states to get some ford edis units sent over, but am still wainting on replies.
Might look at selling the ms1 and buy a ms11 so i can use the holden coilpack setup. Much easier.
Mate when you do send me a PM with prices would be very interestedpopeye wrote:MS 1 (extra version firmware) will do idle air and timing - wasted spark or dizzi, but if you are going to buy a ki,t V2 is the go - lots more support for different spark setups. I kow absolutely nothing about this topic but was interested to know why you would go for a "Megasquirt" over other EFI computers? and also how does the Wolf system compare.
Sometime in the next year I want to convert over to EFI and while a LR computer would be easy, it would be great to be able to change things yourself.

Benefits of using an aftermarket ecu are 1) tune yourself 2) no more AFM to fark up 3) no more lucas efi crap 4) no lucas efi crap 5) and oh i almost forgot - no more lucas efi crap !
MS is cheap, heaps of free software to use and will do anything a $1500 up ecu will do at 1/5 of the cost.

Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.
MSII
I run an MSII V2 with EDIS and ford coil packs to replace the distributor. I have been very happy with it and once I spent a bit of time understanding what people were saying on the MS web site I was able to get it running well. It has just completed the OBC without a problem (deep water included).

Thanks.
trouble is sometimes getting a aftermarket ecu repaired or fixed can take a while. and u need to take the laptop along to get it turned properly. just my 2 cents worth
fyi, i picked up a secondhand ecu for my disco on ebay for $50 !! something goes wrong with mine, i can have it swapped over and running in 5 mins

Re: MSII
Yes imported - ended up importing the lot 2nd hand. Could have got coil packs and tooth wheel locally but was cheaper to import.popeye wrote:Where did you get the edis ignition module from ?
