toyota 3v2-e head gasket recall

Post by stumpjumper »

could anybody tell me if toyota had a recall called v06 .
from the information i have got from the net and other people the recall was for faulty head gaskets on the 3.0L v6. i have tryed to find out through toyota but they are either playing dumb about it or there was no such thing.
my 93 4runner is in for a major rebuild because when the head gasket blew it filled #1 pot with water and bent the conrod,so any information would be great.

The very early V6's did have a recall, I doubt you'll get anything out of them though at this late stage.

Had my 91 V6 4runner done under the recall about 7 years ago after it blew the head gasket. A mate had his 92 model done about 5 years ago, both were done at the Toyota Dealership at Nambour.

They should be able to look your VIN number up do see if your 4runner has already had it done.....and if it has you will be out of luck.....but I can't see them still replacing them this late in the piece.....but it might be still worth a try.

I'm not sure what year model the cut-off is either.

Would be a good time to dump a lexus V8 in too!

If it has been recalled there would be a sticker on the drivers side door jamb either at the front or the back. I think they are a thin silver and red metal sticker with some numbers or something stamped on them.

there is a time limit on recals and after this period they are not oblidged to pay for replacement of faulty part or any damaged caused by it.

My sister in law had this problem on her lancer where the roof rusted out, which had a recal on it cause all of them were doing it, but because it wasnt repaired within the time-frame (she was 2nd owner) they were not oblidged to pay for repairs, they did however go halves in the repairs.

recall

my old '93 Runner blew it's gasket about two years ago, it was an affected vehicled, but the work hadn't been done.
I was told the repairs weren't covered anymore, ended up costing me $2300, I was two hours drive from home and couldn't really argue about it, but it's worth taking your VIN to a dealer and asking anyway, just in case.
