Everyone tells me i can't bang a 5spd box in me 2H 60 that is now a 4spd. None says why????
Obviously the box is longer so shafts require changing or mods, but what else stops you from doing it?
Oh yeah and search is no longer my friend.

4spd to 5 spd
Moderators: toaddog, Elmo, DUDELUX
Useless info here, but sorry, ive had a couple of drinks...
I think you should stick with the 4 speed.
A 5 speed could make you get to a higher speed quicker, but I need all the help I can get in the lux,
to get to the next waypoint before you for the next navrun at Big River!
Have you tried this site too... http://forum.ih8mud.com/index.php

In my HJ47 - which has a tranny tunnel to suit the same four speed as what you've most likely got - i pulled out a 4 spd and put in a 5 spd - i didn'y really measure if the shaft lengths changed because of other mods, but i did have to relocate the shifter holes in the floor.
60's came out in a 5spd (yours is 82-84 model ??) so i wouldn't think they would have made different tranny tunnels in that short a time but i could be wrong.
5 spd is the go, so swap it and change whatever needs changing to make it work.
