Lifting a 4runner
go a 1993 4runner and its got a 2" lift.
I want to know the easiest and cheapest way to raise the front a little more. rear i have a few ideas. Torsion is all the way. I dont want to use ball joint spacers though because its not roadworthy and insurance wont cover the mod either.
any ideas please post away.

What size tyres are you planning on running? Only lift it as high as you need to clear the tyres. Hilux's are unstable at standard height so only lift it as much as you need to.AIstyle wrote:why not? was planning on getting one for the front soon.Gribble wrote:dont, get lockers.

Try 117 x more places on an IFS Lux/4Runner
A locker turns an annoying skippy into a decent truck. Front and rears and some good tyres makes you start driving stupid stuff, then it all snowballs with your bank account as you go for more

Found on my 89 4runner with ifs lifting the front 2"
made for a harsh ride with no down travel
So made some balljoint spacers and backed off
torsion bars made for a better ride and better
wheel travel. 2" lift or more.
Also toss the sway bar.
As far as legal it would be hard to even see the spacers when fitted.

If you don't want to use BJ spacers their are two other ways to raise it,
Go 33's for tye size but you will need to do a body lift a well
SAS it
but that is not cheap.

Short of going to ball joint spacers... you are really limited to running low profile bumpstops to give marginally more travel, or getting a complete lift kit.. giantracing and tiny have them adervertised in the for sale section everynow and then for round the $1,500 mark.

Also, I'd be putting lockers and bigger tyres under it before I lift it anymore- Hilux's are notoriously unstable. At the same time though, my 89 with IFS seems a lot more stable than my old 85 with SAS!

do you know if anyone has gone ahead and done a deal as mentioned in the link because sounds really good because i wouldnt mind a 2" bodylift and maybe some sliders.
