Does anyone know the depth of a 16" thermo fan?
I'm limited for space (90mm) between the motor and the radiater and the EL falcon fans i have are to wide and deep, so i will have to run a 16" fan or a new radiater to suit my thermo's.

I had this same issue recently. My little 8" thermo just wasn't cutting it in the slow stuff and had to sit off centre as it was hitting the engine anyway.
I upgraded to a 12" thermo which fits the Sierra radiator absolutely perfectly. Since there was never going to be enough room between the radiator and the engine for the 12", I simple spaced the radiator out from it's mounts so it was now about 5mm from the engine (fan belt) and I placed the larger and subsequently deeper thermo fan in front of the radiator so it blows through rather than pulls through.
The setup worked flawlessly on my first outing. Unfortunately, my engine died for other reasons and has now been in the shop for two weeks...

You don't get heat saturation when you stop and turn the engine off as the radiator is so close to the engine

Same reason i didn't end up using them, why not 2 12"s better than one, covers more area and if 1 dies there is still 1 running, thermo's are better off on the backside of your radiator, more effetive and dont get covered in as much grit6.5 rangie wrote:Does anyone know the depth of a 16" thermo fan?

Funny thing about davies craig 12" compared to 10", the 12" is only 1" larger!!

Heh nah it's fine. It's the bolt that holds the main pully wheel which is the closest point to the radiator. The actual engine would be a good 100mm from the radiator. It's a 4AGE mounted N/S so heat coming off the front of the engine isn't really an issue and there's only one belt which looks like possible the easiest belt to replace in any car ever.LuxyBoy wrote:Sounds like fun for belt changes or crank case cover removal![]()

Plenty of room to change the belt and enough room between the grill and the radiator for a nice big thermo. The thing roars where its spinning, and on the first trip out I punished the car and couldn't get the temp guage to budge.
