Gearbox Leaking

Post by drewe »

Hey all - need some advice.... (as always!)

Since the new engine is in the gearbox is now leaking oil - I think on the join between box and clutch (where the spindle comes out) - maybe I was a bit rough rejoining the two :(

Is there a seal or bearing or something there? Any idea? Gearbox is getting harder to change gear and vibreating at speed (and oil in the engine not going down, so the spreading brown puddle is not from that!) - so I am pretty sure it is it....

Any idea's?

If its gear oil coming from your bell housing, sounds like yout gearbox input seal is gone. Box will have to come out to repair, but not sure if box needs to come apart sorry.

You can check the oil level in the box through the filler hole in the side. Don't stuff your box by running it low!

If the input shaft is leaking (which it sounds like) your clutch will become contaminated with the gearbox oil and stuff up pretty quick.
This could explain why its hard to shift also.

I have to take mine apart soon and replace the seal and the clutch
