TURBO QUESTIONS - HELP

Post by giffo »

I have a 2.8 diesel in a 4 Runner (1991)
I have just bought a CT20 turbo (oil cooled with dump pipe) and want to know what I now need to install it?
What manifold and other stuff needed?
Instructions how to do it.

Any one in Sydney Hills district that knows how?

Cheers
Steve

ct20

i have a ct20 on my 2.4 and i know that the standard 2.8 turbo diesels have a ct26 and that the bolt paterns are the same on both so you have to get a standard 2.8 manifold and dump but when you get the gasket double check it

there is no standard 2.8 turbo.

steve you need a manifold to bolt the turbo to - the manifold off a 1990-on 2.4 factory turbo (2L-TE ot 2L-TII) will work. you need to plumb the oil supply from the oil pressure sender or anywhere with high pressure oil and you need to put the oil drain into the side of the sump (have to remove the sump to do it). you have to connect the air inlet ot the turbo to the air filter and the air outlet of the turbo to the inlet manifold. you need to connect the exhaust up and probably get a whole new exhaust to let it breathe. you need to get it tuned once it's all installed, and as you have probably already been told the CT20 is too small for your motor so once you get it all going you'll be looking for a bigger turbo in about a week.
