What size do you have and what do you run off it.

I am considering either a 300 or 600w one.

The bigger the better.
I have a 600W with a surge of 1500w.

I mainly run chargers for all sorts of things, Laptop, And small power tools and also run the extension lead to the house to watch TV when the power fails.

If you can afford it, go for a pure sine wave unit, not a modified square wave one. Bit more $$$$, but worth it.

Get bigger than you want, I got 1700w, it runs a 1200w circular saw, but the saw has lost some guts, microwaves & sandwich toasters etc only work at half heat, cause it's not full sine wave, it runs my small 240v compressor ok, will run house fridge, computer tv, vcr etc no problems though.
