Post by Swamp Donkey »

i sprung over my zook and a vibration popped up and i'm fast running out of hair to pull out. the strang thing is i took out my front tailshaft and the vibration has gone, even though i'm in 2h :?:
i have checked to see if the front tailshaft is spining while i drive, but it dont move. i cannot for the life of me figure it out.

Make sure the tailshafts (front and rear) are aligned properly. What exactly is vibrating? steering wheel ? gear shifter? or entire car?

without the front shaft the car doesnt shake, but the t-case shifter still dances a bit.

I had a similar issue after a t-case alteration.
Shaft was too close to a cross member and would hit it under some situations.

But could also be the splines are now in a different position, and if worn could vibrate?

the splines feel like they are in good condition. i forgot to mention that the vibration is in 1st and 2nd, goes away after about 40 k's and the harder on the gas the worse the vibration. i dont think that i have a whole lot of clearence on the front shaft and the cross member i'll climb up there and have a look when the rain goes away.

I attacked my crossmember with a big hammer, replaced a worn t-case mount, and straightened a bent mount, no more problem.
hope its an easy fix.

In 2wd, do you have your front hubs locked in still. Even in 2wd on the transfer, if you hubs are locked in you will get a vib if your front shaft or drive train is vibrating. Unlock your hubs if locked in and test it. If not check your transfer mounts.
