I replaced my MT/Rs with the new STTs, and the only significant difference was balance - the STTs balanced OK, where the MT/Rs never did.

On-road noise is comparable, off-road they both seem to give up under the same conditions - which isn't very often, for where I go.

MT/R has Durawall, STT has Armor-Tek3. Never has so much as a slow leak with either of them.

Both seem to wear faster than my S/Ts did, but S/Ts were a different size - if that matters?

If I were buying again right now, I think I'd go the STTs again. If I had to take MT/Rs, I'd be happy - presuming they balance OK.

Interesting Scott,, the STT look pretty similar to the MTR and I am happy enough with my STTs. I think some ppl bag the STT based on performance of the old style STT.

I am finding wear rate pretty good on the STTs and they have heaps of grip for what I do.

Best...LOVE my MT Baja radial claws.

Also really liked the ProComp MTs, I'd take then anyday over the BFG MTs I also ran for a while. Brilliant in the wet (factory siped), wore well, quieter on road...far better all round over the BFGs.

35" claws(bias) still going after 3 yrs..can not kill them
37"claws(bias) used for 1 comp..excellent tyres
38"boggers ok tyre only good for mud

32"centerpede .not a good tyre for my car.on tar its crap.offroad only as good as the boggers

Hay scott did you ever try having the MTRs balanced on the car? As i found that was the only way to get a good result from them.

I do most of my wheelin around Gembrooke Vic and the South of the state and found that traction is most needed on the greasey wet red clay up hills as most tyres will do a reasonable job on rocks. Im currently lookin into 39" Krawlers as size does make i big difference and have the clearance, gears, power to spin them up hard. I will rate the tyres i have tried in my years of wheelin by giving them a star rating from *-*****.

Q78 Swampers *** ( too small nowadays )
36-12.5 Swampers ** ( case to wide for size Q78 is a better option )
38-12.5 Swampers **** ( very hard to balance, work well on all surfaces but dont shine anywhere either )
36-12.5 Simex Peedes **** ( great tyre, they need a new size of atleast 38' )
37-14 Boggers ** ( no side grip on hard clay and need to be under power all the time no good on slipperery down hills )
37-13 Claws ** ( no side grip and typical directional tyre on down hills and under brakes )
39-16 Claws ** ( too wide for wheelin ***** for looks thou )
37-13 X-Terrains **** ( great in the rocks and on the hard clay especially if doin some road KM's to get to your destination )
40-13 MTR's ????? ( would have loved to have tried them but couldn't get 17' steel rims at the time ).
That all the tyres ive owned in the last few years and i rated them from my experience with them. The only ones i have got a second set of were the Peedes and them fitting the CCDA tyre gauge had some influence on that choice.
39-13 Krawlers ?????? ( they have got the size so they should work )
I currenly have Peedes and X Terrians and fit up what i feel will better suit the area im goin to.
