Tow Bar Question for BJ42

Post by Wilko76 »

Hi All

Finally taking the beast camping this weekend. A tow bar was already fitted when I bought it. It is a Hayman Reece type of tow bar and is mounted under the chasis (not on the bumper). the tow comes out of the truck on an angle (uphill). Can you buy a hitch attachment that will angle back level?(sorry for the confusing description!). It is not an issue if your trailer has a universal joint but a standard box trailer will have issues.

The tow hitch shouldn't be on an angle at all. Has it been bent at some stage, or maybe fitted incorrectly? I haven't seen anything that is made to straighten this up, maybe able to get something custom made for it though.

Cheers

No worries. i might take it down to a tow bar place to get it checked.

Does anyone know where you can by the tow bar style (hitch) that bolts on to the bumper plate on the 40 series? My dads 40 series has one on and it bolts straight on.

Your help would be appreciated.
