Drums or discs in the rear of 1990 Sahara?

I have put a deposit on a 1990 model 80 series and I didn't check the rear brakes. I know it had 15 inch rims. So what's the verdict. Drums or Disc?

poverty pack came out only with drum brakes. the rest are disk ;)

Disc Rears but have a drum behind the rotors for handbrake.
GXL HDJ80 Cruiser - Lifted, Locked, 315's, 3" Zorst, Safari Intercooled, High Flowed Turbo, All the fruit. AMMS tuned coal shovel, Pushing 148rwhp... + heaps of the black sooty goodness...

Sounds good guys, I was a bit skeptical considering the later models need 16 inch rims to fit over the rear brake calipers.

yeah, this spun me out when i done my brakes, had never seen a handbrake done like this before.

Is there any way to improve the handbrake?
This is thing I will miss about the Nissan and the Rover.

:oops: I always just use my handbrake regardless of the incline/decline.......... am i asking for trouble?

Did the same with my 4Runner also, both handbrakes work fine :?

mums handbrake works perfect if its nose up a hill, if its nose down i coould probly push it around with the hand brake on. So whenever we're parked on a hill we nose it up as we cant leave in gear cause we gotta wait for the turbo timer and lifes too short to wait for that bloody thing!

Another Q
Seeing as mine is a water cooled turbo and my little sticker says 120sec max is fine for a long trip to cool down...is this really enough time?

Also says around town no need for cooling down just switch her off...yes?

Just to be on the safe side, both mums 1HDT and my 12HT have turbo timers. we never turn them straight off (unless we've just moved them from one side of the driveway to the other) we leave it up to the T/Timer, thats why they're there. Around town we let it idle down for 1 min, decent run up the freeway or any towing 3 mins and all day driving on the freeway 5 mins (which is overkill but who cares) both vehicles have nearly reached 350 000kms and the turbos havnt been touched. Water Cooled?????? on a 1HDT? I thought the CT26 on the 1HDT was oil cooled only? Not saying this is right, this is just what we do :) .

I was always taught to, and always park my 4Runner in gear (opposite to the direction its facing so 1st point uphill, R pointing downhill) and use the handbreak.. GF hates it, but i told her she'd hate it more if her handbreak failed and her car rolled away.
