HI ALL JUST WONDERING WERE THESE ARE IN THE FRONT END AND HOW HARD ARE THEY TO FIX.
MY MQ SHORTY HAS A BAD KNOCK IN THE FRONT END AND I THINK THAT MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM I WAS TOLD IT WAS PINS BUT CANT REMEMBER.

The king pin bearing live in the top and bottum of the swivel hub.
You will need to strip the entire hub, brakes and pull your drive shafts out. This make a good time to clean everything and repack with new grease.
Note you will need a press to get the old bearings off and the new bearings on. Also take note of where the shims are and replace them in the same order and amount in the right location.
Something I didn't think about when I did mine. If you haven't done the front wheel bearings in a while do them as well cause you have to pull the whole thing apart and you kill two birds with one stone.
If you can't get hold of the manual I can scan the associated pages and email them to you.
You can also check the king pins by lifting the front of the car and rocking the wheel by holding 12 O'clock and 6o'clock. If the wheel, brakes and swivel hub all move then the bearings have gone on holiday.

You don't have to dissasemble all this stuff unless you want to do the wheel bearings, seals, repack the CV's, whatever..
If all you want to do is put the new trunion bearings in, then just jack the side up you are working on, pull the wheel off so the weight of it isn't hanging off the bearings, and unbolt the bearing caps and reef them out.
Doing it this way, you don't have to drain the diff either, as the inner axle is still in there and seals the oil in.

I'm with JTRAF on this one....replace em all and you know where you are. More than likely its done 200,000ks + and all the bearings will be due sooner than later, its a pain in d butt to have to redo the same work 3 or 4 months later due to a short cut with the $$$.
I had a similar problem with one that made noises as well, turned out to be the 825x16 dunlops it had on it.....they rubbed the springs at full lock !!, I cut the centers out and moved the rim further out from the hub and rewelded the rim/center..problem solved!
