hi guys, has eny1 ever put racing seats in a MQ? how did u get them in & u have eny pic, i'm haveing trubble getting them in

Ive got some in mine(well only drivers at the moment). just temp mounts though untill i get my cab chopped and a 4point cage in the cab, to which i will mount my seats to.
They are fix mounts and are no good for anyone taller than 5'9" (perfect for me) but pretty easy to make them so that they are further back which would make it easier to get into.

yeh..... those mounts arent strong at all, and an engineer wouldnt like them either.... so yeh only use as temp mounts....
your best bet when doing any seat changes in a patrol...
use the exsisting slide rails and mounts to the floor. mod brakets to bolt the rails onto the bottom the seat.

Those mounts should be out in a couple of months. Ran out of steel to put a cross brace in... 
. the strange thing is, when i got my cert for my shcakles etc he certed the seat bases as well!
made of 25x50x3mm RHS.
but they are right, Cross brace would make it much safer, if my welds were to fail (they bloody shouldn't) i would be in a lot of pain. The seat is also a bit high for my liking, as well as being to close to the door (rubs against the B pillar)
If he is anything like me Screwy he wants to get rid of the bases as well. I hated mine, with the suspension and everything in it!
Am in the process of drawing up my new cage and seat moutsn at the moment, will post it up when it is done

i most of the seat rails dont have suspension in them... just the seat springs....
i personally like to keep things looking at factory at possible in the vehicle and also like to be able to adjust my seat forward or backwards....
if the stock rails are there and only a small bracket to the seat an engineer or inspector wont be as harsh as if the whole thing is a new unit.

geez... ive heard of them having suspension seats...
but never personally had anything to do with them... all of my patrols have always been rails and seats... pretty basic all in all...

Like most, the thought of a sudden stop is generaly thought of when traveling FOWARDS......
but the likelyhood is for the seat or mounting frame to break is when traveling BACKWARDS !!!!
IE: rolling back after an attempt to climb out of a deep hole etc etc etc , its at this point that a seatbelt wont help either the driver or the seats strength and its now when the seats usually break leaving the driver facing the door !!!
If your realy serious about fitting a "personalised seat " then why worry about sliding rails ?????? after all you should be the only driver !
In my rig I've broken the drivers seat on several occasions and now its a fixed item that dont move....... tough luck for those that wanna have a drive and cant fit my seating position.

Same thing, only I've also broken the seat base on a few occasions, broken the back to base connecting hinge, done gawd only knows how many sliders, & driven home on 2 occasions sitting on a milk crate with the actual seat in the backdromana7411 wrote:yeh, iv thought about solid mounting mine.. i keep braking bolts on it, or botls keep rattling loose and the back falls off... eaven with locktite
Much of the problem comes from the slider nearest to the doors, when it fails to engage properly the back n forth motion when wheelin takes its toll very smartly...... getting rid of the slider solves all the potential future dramas.
