Dont think they do a full blown detroit for suzukis. only the easy lockers?
I would go for a locker as it allows slip for corners as a spool does not and will chirp tyres worse in carparks and that.

I think the "Detroit Locker" basically replaces whole hole hemisphere and the "Detroit easy locker" is basically the components inside the locker.
basically the same for your purpose, Mainly how people refer to them.

detriot e-z lockers are the same as lockright's and Lokka's they will automaticly unlock when cornering, but will stay locked up when power is applied. whether on road a spool is better is a matter of opinion. some people say that e-z lockers are unpredictable whilst once you have a feel for the spool it is always the same. others say that e-z lockers give better drivability better turning circle and that they are not that unpredictable you just learn how to drive them smoothly. The only way to really know what you like would be to go for a drive in car with a detriot and to go for a drive with a locked rear.pietro_vs_zook wrote:ok so they dont make detroit as such altho i can get a "LOCKER" .. what you mean by that..... sorry i a bit new to this....

Last time i ordered stuff from overseas, it was a detroit ez-locker for a sierra. The grand total for everything, was under $400. That was from ordering to in the car running. www.roadlessgear.com

and how was the traction difference.......
is it predictable say entereing a round about and you are half in and you apply throdle will it kick out sideways........??????
the detriot ez locker and the Lock right locker appears not to fit my vitara.....
it olny says it fits a Samurai/Sidekick/Tracker vehicles.
a silly question is any of these the same diff set up as my 90 modle swb vit..?

Difference in traction offroad is great. Road driving is fine too (its a daily driver). You just have to remember its their, thats all. It will squeal tyres if you gas it round tight turns, on round abouts you either roll with clutch in, or heaps light throttle, or give it just enough throttle to lock up. It will jerk and carry on if you get it wrong, but its easy to figure out quickly. Sometimes on quick gear changes it will make the car kick out, but i just avoid quick race cahnges on road (its a zook after all). Auto lockers are fairly sensetive to tyre pressure differences too, you must have the same rolling radius on each side of the axle. Running different tyre pressuress left to right will make them randomly unlock and carry on, same with different size tyres, so make sure if you go this way you havea full size spare or are able to correct this if you havea blow out somehow. There is some clunk/click noise assosiated from the action, but as i said, you get used to it and forget its their. I happy with mine's opperation, esp considering the cost. Oh, yeah in my cost, i installed it myself (im a mechanic), but i did include diff oil and sealant in the $400 price). mini spools area vailable in the states too, if that interests anybody. WI chose not to get the optional side couplers with my locker, and have had no problem using the side gears in the locker setup. I was told that the couplers can make them harsher, but i have no first hand experience sorry. I was considering ARB for my rig, but i dont plan to keep the zook axles any longer than i have to, so the extra $$$ was too much to upgrade to. Saurai=sierra, Sidekick and tracker are Vits i think (sidekick deff is, pretty sure GEO Tracker is the same if not very simmilar). Liam's price for lockrights isnt to bad either. These would be the American richmond lock-right i guessing, not the crappy aust lokka brand ones. When i looked into it and asked a few US guys what they recomended, they said either one was pretty good, i just chose the detroit. As for Jimny, no idea sorry. There are a few Jinmy people that could answer your question though.pietro_vs_zook wrote:and how was the traction difference.......
