The guy there is a straight down the line talker with no interest in sugar coating things.
If you have thick skin, go and see them. Otherwise, MR Automotive are very good, as are Redlands 4WD Centre.

Yep...I have known Bob Knight for years as my old man used to have a 1978 PB6 rover sedan so we spent a lot of time there over the years. I myself have spent a lot of dough with Bob, but he has ironed all the bugs out my Rangie V8 which is still running the old analogue computer and injection.
In my opinion he is a great mechanic and knows his Range Rovers very well.
Cheers

I have never used them, but heard some good reportsd from people through the LR club(s) that I'm involved in.
MR is also good, but a hike for us on the southside. Ricks 4WD is also good, but at Nerang (which is close than MR, only reason we don't use MR).

Ok I went to check out the HSE today, Has one small dent on top part of tailgate, paint blemishes-fading on front part of roof and left side.
Other problems were the radio and air cond display doesn't show up, radio and air cond does work. Roof has been re trimmed but door pillar trims never got re trimmed and are pretty worn. Stitchings in front leather seats are starting to come loose.
So overall it drove great, very smooth, owner wants $15 000
What do you guys reckon, will those problems be expensive to fix ?

I'd be asking him to take this off the price. Or get it fixed before you pick it up One less thing for you to worry about then$1500
Are you kidding???Mad Cruiser wrote:Will those problems be expensive to fix ?
Of course not...it's only money, theres more to life
Mad Cruiser wrote:$1500
(Refer to your above quote and you've got your answer.)
ps....tough love works for the p38..wheel it, flog it, race it, jump it & ALWAYS expect it to fawk up doing this, and it won't
With the HEVAC Display - have you looked really closely to see if it is actually working but just very hard to see? A common fault is backlight bulb failure. Bulb is cheap, just a fiddly job pulling the lower half of the dash off but nothing a patient person couldn't handle.
With the radio - if it truly is stuffed, just get another radio.
I had the dunger spec Eurovox in mine - LCD was black on light/green backround. One of the little PCB illumination green diodes blew - could see display during the day but not at night.
I bought a JVC touch-screen MP3 jobby, pulled it apart 'n' painted the silver fascia black, set the display colour to green - looks OEM hot!
All your other problems just sound like general wear and tear - up to you wheter you fix them.
But how thoroughly did they check everything else?
Has the EAS been put through it paces - selected every function?
Is there a little 'toonk' noise in the back axles when going from forward to reverse?
Does it have the latest or at least new radiator hoses?
Have all/any field campaigns been carried out?
Coolant dripping into front footwells?
If you want to set your mind at ease, check out http://rangerovers.net/newrremedies.htm
Study it, maybe print out a few pages then go back and quiz Bob / further inspect the vehicle.
If the HEVAC display is the biggest problem then she sounds alright.
Come and see me about upgrading the airsprings for a bit of flexibilty off-road...
