I think I need a shoe horn

Post by HJ60_HEATHUS »

While adjusting up the shoes today, per the manual i adjusted until the drum locked. The problem is I now can't deadjust it. I am holding back the automatic adjuster when i try to turn the star wheel, but the damn thing just won't budge.
I did the other side without any problems, so I'm sure i'm not missing something.

Now worst case scenario, and the adjuster is frozen solid (which I think it is) how am I going to get this thing off? should i just attack the adjusting bolt with a chisel?

well i managed to work the drum off by screwing bolts into it. i was supprised it pulled off that easy. the adjusting bolt isn't even frozen, so i'll be buggered if i can work out why the Cookie wouldn't back off.

ah well, all is good

glad to see I'm not the only one who had this problem. Had the same problem on a Hilux last weekend. Except mine ended much messier. The drum had a big lip and wouldn't budge over the shoes. Ended up pulling axle and assembly off and disassembled on the floor. Got to serious with a hammer at some stage but and broke the drum :x
