Dave, yours is a very impressive unit... Any chance of some more pics, seeing as they have all been removed from the site for some reason?

Also, would you be able to advise what you put on it aftermarket? Which rust protection system, etc?

I was never a fan of paint protection until my current car (Forester XT), and will probably do it again on the Hilux next year...

Love the front bar on yours, as well as the rear bar, but will probably go ARB on the rear, and would like some more info on your front bar... Was it dealer fit, or did you deal with Agtrak yourself?

I'll try put sum pics up soon.
I didn't do the paint or rust protection through the dealer couldn't justify the money. Can't go past a good quality polish, as for rust protection i use a 50/50 mix of fish oil and lanolin oil, that stuff gets in every where.

The B/bar is a Sports Range bar from Equipe Automotive in Brisbane. I think thay had supply issuse. I here ARB is bringing out a Sahara bar for the Hilux later this year, should look very similar to mine. The rear bar is off the Lux at the moment, just use it for trips.
Agtrak is the NSW dealer for Sports Range, S/Range is based in Perth and import gear from Thailand.

which winch? a XP with 6hp motor or a $400 ebay POS?
ARB rear step is solid
ARB side steps are flimsy and in my experience dent the sills when you hit anything
LF 240's - get the XGT's, loads of room on the Hilux bar
UHF - get the GME remote head unit
Airtec snorkle - upto you, IMHO the Safari is a better made product. Toyota factory fit Safari
Autron cruise is the best

Have a look into getting some colour coded flares. I got some front flares put on my SR from Tyrepower. Looks great and would be better if you went with the bigger tyres.

Hey Max, I think the bars are SR5's only. 31's fit perfectly, but you will need flares and 15x7 inch rims.

An observation, and a question - is your front bar colour coded all the way to the body work of the car?

From what I've seen, the way ARB/TJM seem to do it, is where they leave a gap between the bar and the car, and fill with black rubber/plastic, which looks a bit ordinary...

The bar looks awfully like a Sahara bar... Does it have high lift jacking points on it?

Yep, that's for sure... She doesn't care what goes on it, as long as she can come out to play in the bush with me in it, with the Offroad Subarus guys... Currently planning a Vic - WA and back trip, via the Gammon and Flinders Ranges, and all she had to contribute was "We ARE sleeping in the tent, AREN'T we?"

We like the sterling silver D4D, and the blue looks bloody good also, but I suspect I'd get sick of washing it to keep it looking clean...

Well I have the new D4D SR5 just been busy doing a few mods and doing some shopping (ordered all the gear yesterday)

All I have done so far is 31/10.5/15 BFG AT's along with the dual battery setup.

Soon to rip out the stereo and put my Pioneer DVD in place

would be interested to know how you've done your dual battery setup? Popular opinion seems to be the Redarc solenoid... I'm leaning towards an ARB or TJM electronic option...

Would be great if you can do a "HowTo" when you change the stereo for the Pioneer!!!

Hi Andrew,

Finished the dual battery setup last night, all went in perfectly, I am using the RedArc. Have done in the past and never has let me down.

Hmm the stereo install sucked, just finished it then.... very cold outside!

I unfortunately had to chop the plugs off as I needed them for the 80 series for when I fit the original deck back up into that...

The MP3 6 stacker SR5 stereo is a fujitsu so I found out

All the wiring is all standard throughout the toyotas, two plugs, one plug has 4 wires which are for the back speakers, the other plug is for the front speakers plus power, earth and something else (unsure)

The only thing I'm not too happy about is the hole for the stereo is wider than any normal stereo, the factory cd player is designed wider to suit the wider hole. I will have to make up some silver plates for either side to make it flush as it's got a slight gap on either side.

It's all good tho, I ran a new power from my 2nd battery directly to the stereo, now can start my engine without the stereo cutting out and use the stereo without the keys in the car!

I also blew a fuse by accident to find out there are no spare fuses and the fuses are some tiny mini blades which I have never seen before, what the hell? so off to the servo to get some mini blades

Here's a pic of the stereo, I have also placed a empty tray into the bottom din slot to fll the gap.



Next few weeks I will replace the speakers and design a custom slimline sub woofer enclosure for behind the rear seat (yes there is a new type of sub out that can work in a small enclosure) and run two 10" subs.

I am planning to replace my Toyota head unit with my sony unit and also a UHF unit sometime in the future.

I would imagine u should be able to buy a fascia plate so that there are no gaps when fitting aftermarket head units into your Lux's. I have bought plates for cars i have owned previously which worked well. Check out Autobarn etc.

I have a question if anyone is able to answer it, long range tank fitted to the SR5; will it screw up the digital l/100kms averages, distance to empty, etc?
