soft top suppliers

Post by strange_albatross »

not sure if these guys have been mentioned here before (did search, but nothing) but found them after looking for a while

http://www.classiccarinteriors.com.au/

click on the first drop down menu, "suzuki soft tops"

just got mine today and very happy with it (been using a 4-ish year old top) and the new one is so very quiet!

cheap soft top ($445) and decent guys, the only reason i mention them is that i stumbled upon them in one of the 4x4 trader mags, couldn't find their web site. even after looking on the web for weeks

and no i don't work for them/affiliated with them in any way

Maybe people can add any other soft top suppliers that they know of and make this topic part of the bible... It seems to come up a bit. I've heard that Suziworx in Maroochidore (I think, correct me if Im wrong) sells soft tops made from marine grade materials = no shrinking (apparently). I'm up for a new soft top soon, and any other suppliers that people can list would be great.

Oops, my bad! I just remembered you saying it somewhere... Mind if I ask why you stopped selling them i.e. is there a better value (read: not just about price) one out there ...I imagine that you would know, having industry experience.

Does anyone know of any retailers around newcastle for soft tops? I could try the suzuki dealer but I heard that they aren't the best tops around...

The ones from http://www.classiccarinteriors.com.au/ do look alright though, especially for the price...

strange_albatross, have you had yours off for a day or so and put it back on... do they shrink a bit?

Cheers,

Nick

I'm thinking that sierrafreak means a 'normal' shaped top, i.e. full at the back, but with the option of taking the front section off (like a bikini/Full top combo)... correct me if Im wrong...

I think I've read somewhere that they are available, but I think that there is a price premium for them from memory. If I find where I read it I'll post it up here..

Sydney Motor Trimmers can custom make any top you like or supply US or local tops as well. All tops will shrink unless made from a cloth hooding like on BM's Merc's etc. Custom tops are definatly not cheap but you get what you want and will outlast all premade tops if you request good material and clears. The top on my zook lasted eight years and three roll overs. check it out at

we simply stopped selling them because there was not really a demand for these at this price.

Hey nickw86au did you ever end up finding where i could get one from i bought a one piece second handy three years ago and the windows are stuffed and the material is near rat sh!t so im chasing the two piece one again.

$80 for the second hand one for three years was pretty good considering it wasnt that crash hot when i bought it.

This is where I got mine. I actually bought a cheaper one first and was unhappy with the fit; these guys sold me the AUSTOP brand for $565 delivered and it been pretty good for the last couple of years - the only thing is if it rains for about a week the material will eventually soak through - I imagine the same would apply for most tops.

It's funny I should get the notification for this thread being active - I'm now looking at selling my zook to get a bigger car, this site was really helpful when I first got it though, so I hope I've been able to 'give back'.

If you want details of the other company that I bought from, pm me.

Cheers

Nick.
