I don't think this is a common practice is AUS.
It is one of the most controversial questions in 4x4 forums.. lol

I thought the Feroza had 2H--N--4L on the transfer... not sure

Just hubs unlocked with the gearbox in neutral may be the way to go, not much else you can do.

no neutral, 2h-4h-4l & no hubs either, mines dedicated off road, I trailer it most places but sometimes have to leave the trailer unattended & hope its there when we return, not a wise thing to do in some parts of nz or probably anywhere haha

aussie feroza have 2H - 4H - N -L4

Not so sure what you mean by damaging the tranfer case that has no neatural? Do you mean by shifting from H4 to L4, then yes you can wear it out easily.

Just something that came up over beers, someone mentioned possible damage to box by towing, couldn't see how myself, just thought you guys may have heard something,
just back from the garage.....No neutral in transfer, bloody japs hidden it somewhere. when i purchased feroza the box only had 2h & 4h, fitted earlier box with high & low.
