What choices (if any) are out there for wheel flares.
At the moment I have the LRA flares which are good but they are reaching the end of their life after being broken and fixed that many times and I want to cut more out of the wheel arches now.
I would buy another set of LRA flares except they are $900!
I'm sure I could make Kevlar flares cheeper than that. With a flexable resin you won't break those suckers. It aint hard to rip a mould, just got to make a few changes so as to not upset the original owner/supplier.
Kevlar sounds good, been thinking of doing these myself (stepdad has fibreglass business, does my snorkels) but making them stronger and a bit bigger. Sh#t i could get anything made for a Rangie out of Kevlar or stronger materials.
Mangie if your keen to do these let me know?
Damien
i got some rubber flares for the time being but look rough want some good flares and LRA are way to expensive for me
if you guys get together and make some i would buy a par for the right price if you do should make them so they look heaps different to the others out there could even make some money out of it
i cut mine and they look fine i put mine on in a couple of hours and was a bit rough just gettin it past rego but if you tried i reckon you could do a pretty good job and for the money they do the job save some bucks for other mods
my front flares have been fixed so many time is have lst count!! I have the repair down pat!! i also use a coat hanger wire on the under side to put stome strenth in it then i use bog with fibreglass in it on the under side and normal bog on the out side sand flat and spray!!

Ok, got a price on the Kevlar, about 8 times as much the cost of fibreglass, it all depends on how many kilo's of kevlar go into it, labor is still the same.
Some of those rubber flares let u put wire in the outer lip so they bend and hold shape on the corners. My mate just got the rubber flare stuff from Clark Rubber and the wire from bunings (put on a GQ).
The resin etc. has also risen as it's a petroleum product.
All the same I recon I could do a set of kevlar flares for around $500 (that's a rough estimate). I believe the real test is to change the product enough so as to not upset the makers of the original product.
