uhf troubles

just bought a uhf off a mate and he choped the wire that goes into his areal off this is my first uhf so dont know how i can make it work agian do i need to buy a plug to go to the areal or is there some other way i can do it. it is a gme areal and uhf.

Which end do you need to redo ? . And maybe a photo of the aerial if its that end that has to be redone. If its the Radio end then its pretty easy.

The radio cable and antenna combination will still need to be calibrated using SWR meter I believe. This is why the cable comes with the ends already on it and should only be cut if it is totally necessary.

UHF doesnt need to be tuned. If you can solder and know anything about coaxial cable you should be able to fix it. If ya dont PM me and we can sort something out for ya

It does have to be tuned, the cable/aerial combo needs to be adjusted so that you get an even gain across the channel range. If you dont you can blow your transmitter.

have you got any cable coming out of the aerial??? If so simply join the 2 ends togother by soldering the centre cores together and the outer sheaths together... just make sure they dont touch each other. (you will need unbraid the outer sheathing)

From an RF tuned system this! We've now covered all options!

This solution may work, but it is the nastiest solution for a UHF cable. Do not expect good performance if you do this.

there is no cable comming out of ariel. its all gme. been to a few shops and they had no idea wat to do. any info would be graet.

Cheaper and easier to buy another cable + base and use that, particularly if you are not confident in your abilities to repair the lead correctly. All up about $25 for a simple base and cable, to $100 for a "ground plane independant" type with a spring in the base. You should be able to screw the fibreglass antenna onto the new base without problems.

Got a part number of the aerial or a better description? a pic would be best!
