Diff ratios

Post by mattstar »

I replaced the centre on my rear diff, straight swap from wreckers. All went well, was same ratio as stuffed centre removed. What I wanted to know was the ratio
stamped on the crown gear was 38.8/1 is this my ratio? if so what numbers on the I.D plate tell the reader what ratio's the vehicle had from the factory?
I am curious because I want an lsd or mechanical locker, and I don't want to get the wrong one!
I am in a 82 MQ SD33 SWB
Any advice or help would be great!
Cheers

the ratio is irrelevant when buying a locker, as the locker bolts into your original crown wheel gear
