As most of you know I have a 1uz in my hilux and for now just the G52 which so far is holding up fine. But after only 5000kms the clutch has started slipping under extreme load when 4x4ing. By extreme I mean when in high range going up a very steep hill and I have stopped, it only slips when I go to take off.
What I want to know is what is the strongest setup I could put in it?

Guts when i put the 3rz in i went down to a Rice type clutch shop and got them to "make" a custom one from a "good" one that they sell to ricers.
Never had a problem.
Never slipped on me
Cost about $450 complete.

Just a thought, as we all know the G52 is a pretty p$ss weak box at the best of times, if you put a heavy duty clutch in it IMHO you've got more chance of killing especially with a 1UZ in front of it, before you go spending hundreds on a clutch it may well be better to find another stronger box R151 etc.....

You are your own worst enemy!
I've had the Repco heavy duty clutch set up and it lasted 4 months, ripped the centre of the clutch clean out, next up I tried the Excedy set up and that lasted 8 months ( sheared the spline plate in the clutch) now I have the Daiken tuff clutch with the bigger centre/spring section, this puppy has been in for 2 months and it seems to be holding up well with no slippage on any surfaces/gradiants.
The Daiken pressure plates are really up to the task of handling a V8 and running big tires, for my set up the clutch seems to be the weak link.
But with the money I've spent I should have just got a custom clutch plate made up in the first place.
I run the R151F gearbox though.
