Has any one put a 2ND alternator onto a 2H, and ifso how did you do it. What I was thinking of doing is to run the 2nd alt (maybe 100amp plus) to run cranking battery and winch and the original alt to run 2nd battery for all the accessories. The 2H is in an FJ45, also, what alt should I use.
Thanks for your help... Joe.

2ND Alternator on a 2H

Mate has second alternator on his 2h 60 series. Fitted new alternator where air con compressor was. very simple installation, has used either falcon or commodore alternators. I think the falcon first then the commo cause it had alot more grunt. Very simple to mount, just minor little bracket made up to install these units. Dont know how you would go if you wanted to retain air con though.
I have an extra alternator on mine. originally it was beside and below the a/c compressor. But now i've got a supercharger on it so there no room there. It now resides on the inlet manifold side. this leaves you the option of using a/c compressor for an on board air system also. Had to do a few minor mods, such as move fuel filter (i think a 45 might be diff to my 60 anyway) and change radiator hose.
Let me know if you want piccies.
Cheers.
