spare wheel mounting

For all the guys that have the spare in the back where the seats used to be, how do you mount it? What did you use, etc....

I always just secured it to the floor with ratched straps. oethers may have more elaborate setups.

I have seen done but i have not yet.

Take the mount off the rear door and mount this to the floor. then tyre onto mount

seems a shame to drill those holes on the floor just to mount a tire when it is fine to strap it down. also if it a much wider tyre then it probably wont fit on the original mount.

what do you run your ratchet straps through? an eyelet in the hole for the seat and seat belt bolts??

yea that could work. I used to hook the strap over the hooks that are too hold the rear seats in position when you fold them forward. and at the back under the hoop that the seats clip too when they are in position. otherwise there are holes in the floor where the seats where previously that you could bolt some sort of hook too.

What happens when you dont have enough space to do this? Has anybody successfully mount longer bolts to hold a 30" x 15" at the rear of the zook?
Cause I got to still have rear seats (dont ask you will laugh at me)...
Or is to heavy to mount the larger tyre????

Mine used to be mounted this way, then I had a flat piece of wood layed over the top (completely covered from side to side which sat over the guards, full length front to back) this gave me a level area.

You can mount a 30" tyre on the tailgate you just need to remove the rubber bumpers that space the tyre away from the metal.
But yeah it is a bit heavy for the poor little hinges and does add to the dreaded zook lean but that is how Im running my spare for now.

you can use a spare wheel holder from a facon sedan (ie.round dish that fits in the middle of the wheel with long bolt that has a wing nut welded on the end and just drill a small hole in the floor and weld a nut in) probably about 5 dollars from the wrekers to easy it takes about 10 mins to do

Mine mounts to the top of my Draws in the back of the zook where the seats used to be.

Mine is in the back like this. it's only a bugger to get to the spare as you have to remove all the stuff off the shelf or just slide it out the back.

That is exactly how mine was.....only i ran & relied on the Second Air beadlocks to reduce the chance of having to change a tyre.
