Transfer case question

Post by bmsa »

G'day Guys

I've got a series 1 discovery that has started making a gear whining type noise which I think is coming from the transfer case. The noise seems to be related to the speed of the vehicle not the revs or gear you are in such as running down a big hill you can hear it most.

If any one has any possible ideas what it might be it would be greatly appreciated. Also the gear box has been out 3 times in the last 12 months is it possible this caused side effects with the TC?
Cheers

Ben

Ran out of time this weekend to drop the oil but I did get under and have a look and there seems to be an oil leak. Fingers crossed she is just getting a little low on oil then.
Cheers
