80's clutches

i'm due for a new clutch about now what is the best clutch to put in them i mainly use the car for touring and offroading and it had genuin toyota clutches its hole life.

any info would be apreciated.

Daikin heavy duty is great value for money, the Safari Tuff is excellent but is expensive and unless you drive HARD you don't need it.

Toyota OEM clutches are soft to maintain a nice pedal feel but in reality aren't up to tough stuff.

Petrol or Diesel?

I have a 91 diesel and found that the Daikin is better than the genuine as it allows some slip as opposed to the genuine one... better for driveability.

I did some research on this back in April as I need to change my clutch in my 94 HZJ80 (with AM Turbo). I am still yet to do this.

Direct Clutch Service - Albion 3862 2680 H/D $526 fitted $986 seemed extremely helpful, the clutch he fits he modifies to make very light on the peddel (helpful if you do not have a power assisted clutch) from another persons report who had this done no problems with clutch even on a AM Turbo

All Brake & Clutch & Clutch 32772888 $800-$900 not very helpful

4x4 Excellance Brendale 3881 3434 - Std $400, Fitted $961, H/D $500, Fitted $1061, Extreme $693, Fitted $1254, Extreme is a heavy clutch

Oldmac Toyota Cleavland $750 fitted.

As far as prices go Toyota had the best price suprise. suprise. If I had a std Toyota I would go for this. But as mine has a hair dryer I intend to go to Direct Clutch Service because I have heard good reports and the fact that they are able to provide a lighter clutch that works fine on TD .

Lets me know how you get on, who you choose and what the service and end product is like.

you will not go wrong with dennis (direct clutch service) i have run his custom clutches in many high powered hi traction vehicles and only ever had one stuff up over 11 years. he did back it up with a very reduced cost for the new one. i was honest and he knew i had flogged the piss out of it.

all of those are a bit far away 4 me. by the way its a 1hz N/a and i've bin told using after market clutches develops a shuder when changing gears.

anyone experianced this?

hey sean, ive got a heavy duty RPM clutch and its great, not too ahrd on the pedal but extremly heavy duty

not sure the exact price for them these days but back in November last year i got one put in for $700 which i thought was pretty good

anyway, not tooo sure about the shudder, good luck with it
