LPG - yes or no?

Post by reg w »

I' m a first timer guys but I would like to know what peoples thoughts are on gas conversions for a 1998 3.2 V6 auto 2wd dual cab. I have had differing opinions and of course the gas conversion people have nothing but good news - has anyone had something similar done and has it been ok?
Help if you can

It is good news.
3.2's suck fuel like theres no tomorrow. They suck gas just the same but at least it's about half the price.

I've got a Gastec 31 system on mine and no problems.

Thanks sudso - is the 'Gastec 31' system a common one and how did you decide to go with that brand - is it a model from your area?
What about the price? If you could give me some more info it would be appreciated.
Thanks

The Gastech 31 is just the fuel (LPG) processor and a stepper motor. I dont know how common they are.
The rest of the system is a Zavoli convertor and an APA Tank.

The processor is wired in to the cars ECM (computer) and when LPG is selected the processor "lies" to the ECM to make it think the injectors are still working.
The stepper motor is just like a carby (for the LPG) basically but super responsive to messages recieved from the processor, which still recieves input from all the vehicles sensors (mass air flow, O2 sensor etc.) via the ECM and adjusts LPG mixtures accordingly.
This is basically how all EFI LPG systems work.

I cant tell you how much the system cost as it was already in the vehicle when I bought it.
It had a Gastech 30 processor and stepper motor then but it was playing up (5 years old) so the gas mechanic recommended and fitted the updated Gastech 31 which has given me no problems since.

Hope that helps
Cheers

Oh the new processor etc was about $300 fitted and tuned.
