Springs and big Lifts, has yours sagged?
Springs and big Lifts, has yours sagged?
Which brands are not sagging under pressure with extra weight? I'm fitting a 7" lift, how ever want to know whose has sagged the fastest.
I was all set to Pick up my kit when I started having second thoughts, so think I’ll find out what other's are doing. And the other reason I'm going 7" is that I expect it to sag at least 1" plus after it's settled.
Cheers

Be careful going 7" to get 6", I got a 4" lift and it is actually sitting at about 5" st the moment but has started to settle. You may find your 7" sits at about 8" then drops to 7" rather than 6".

...have to say it.. big height do you really need it ??
Umm I got a 4" (4way) Tough Dog kit from BBM. My rear sagged by just under an inch just after a year. 30mm spacer has things sitting level. Have yet to put a winch on the front so may be in for more sagging. Finding the right combination may take a few trys be warned, if your not happy send sh!t back until you are..
In hindsight I probably just should have get a set of Lovells 5" lift and Procomp es9000s ~ basically the Binskins F.A.T. Kit. Seeing how well this works in my old boys shorty.. No sag after 2 years..

i got ridepro in mine..... no weight in the back and they sagged after a month. I wasn't overly impressed...... i'm scoring a set of 6" dobinsons that have been used..... should be just right.

There is no "I" in Team, but there are 5 in Individual Brilliance

Admittedly i have huge articulation, but the drop in this period is around 50mm. there is no come back once youve perchased. Mav GQ
Re: Springs and big Lifts, has yours sagged?
I've found that from most people I have met using Kings, that they have dropped (7" lifts) and settled Around 5" plus. Which is where I want to be at at the end of the day, cause i get sick of changing springs. that and the fact I have alot of crap bolted on, batterys and winchs and crap.boony wrote:12 Months ago i fitted a 7" lift using Kings Springs4Speed wrote:Which brands are not sagging under pressure with extra weight? But using Dobinsons in the past, they have not sagged, but have had no extra weight either.

2 years ago purchased 7" coils from kings . the front sagged 2" in three months. Complained to them my reply was the are disigned for comp vehicles and that i have a steel bar and winch it was too much weight over the front, i laughed at them and purshased coils from mannell. the rears are still kings and have never had any more issues with the fronts. overall it has settled to around 6" then i added 30mm spacers.all works well.
It's not the brand or the height so much it's the spring rate, if a 7 inch spring has a 300lb rate it will proably not drop 1 inch in years, if the same lift spring has a rate of 200lb expect some drop over time.

*JUST LUV IT* 96 GQ LWB TD4.2, Cav, Kings, Dobinsons, Motorguard, Enginesaver, 400 pro, Cooper ST's (rolls eyes), fleetguard oil filters, Delo 400 engine oil, Delo ESI gearbox oil and an RTC.
Ive got a set of 7in kings in my shed. They were in my GQ wagon for a while and had no signs of sagging at all but took them out as 7in lift was just redicules. On the other hand i fitted 4in No Block springs (turned by king) years ago and did a cape trip plus all sorts of other driving, pulled them out to go 7in then put them back in but just recently the front drivers spring has droped about an 1.5in while the rest are sitting fine. But in reality they have done over 150000 klms.

I had to start using my wagon for work and i do about 500/800klms a week in it . I was just sick of the lack of handling it had and seemed very swayish all over the place. I also use it to tow a car trailer with my buggy on it. So ill be going to a 2inch soon and also might try standed again for a better road feel with the trailer. Not to mention mr Plod here in QLD would have got me in no time.
