What is the bigest tyres that can fit under a standard height 2002 discovery. with out rubbing

About 245/75-16. If you have a bullbar and adjust the steering stops a little bit, most (not all) will also run 265/75-16. Some may touch a little on the top of the rear guard with these. A few also run 235/85-16 which is the same diameter as the 265's but narrower.

I have 235/85/16's and 265/75/16's and the 235's are nearly an inch taller.
245's and 265's are pretty close in diameter.
Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.

There's a problemo with your tyres. :D

265/75 and 235/85 should be within .1" diameter at around 32".
245/75's are about 30.5"

Mathematically these should have sidewall differences of about 15mm, so 30mm tyre dia change (1-1.5" overall)

I am sure that the specs used to show the 235's as being 0.5" larger diameter, but not anymore...

235 * .85 * 2 = 399.5 mm (15.7") + 16" = 31.7"

265 * .75 * 2 = 397.5 mm (15.6") + 16 = 31.6"

Individual tires vary but this is what they should be.
