Scandinavian rock crawling

Post by markil »

hey all,
i'm currently in Finland travelling around and went to spectate at a competition here, "NORT TRIAL 2006" last saturday (see link with more pics)

They have some wild cars over here, as most of you probly know. Mog and volvo axles with 4 wheel steer and hydraulics aren't uncommon at all. The comp had similar rules to WE rock, 5 mins to finish the course and you were penalised for stopping, reversing or going off the course. However, I found it interesting I didn't see one navi get out of the car but instead they were asssiting the driver use hydraulics, cutting brakes or rear steer etc. I'll try posting a few pics and maybe a video clip or 2 in a moment too but here's a link with some pics.

This setup is pretty cool. Always wanted to see something like this on a 4wd. I wonder how effective it is? Bring on the videos they will be awsome to watch

Image That's my old man standing next to this zook wearing my TTC hat  I think he's gonna catch the 4x4 bug soon too

This thing had wooden panels, made it stand out from the others and the driver was wearing a full racing style suite and slippers

ImageSomeone mentioned this "mini" was a crowd favourite. The driver was quite a character ;)

ImageIf any one has watched the scandinavian video which was posted a while back, they'll recognize this rig from it. He was doin donuts at the start of it

It was at about 3-4hrs north-west from Helsinki. I'll be goin to as many events as I can get to around here including some of the WRC events hopefully too. PM me if you want, might be able to come say G´day and have a beer at 1 of the events :)
