2UZ-FE with 1UZ-FE Heads
I was reading a couple of sites, a bit vague though, but they had a 2UZ-FE with 1UZ-FE ported heads. Made excellent power about 375BHP. I know a few guys here have done a 1UZ-FE conversion, but has anyone had anything to do with 1UZ heads on a 2UZ? I suppose you would use all the 1UZ injection system and put an aftermarket computer in? Problem is how do you get a full aftermatket computer to talk to the auto as it is part of the whole module with a 4.5?
All ECU's use the same principles just as PC's do. They calculate input values, respond and create an output. Manafacturers have set values in there ECU's and make them so it is too hard to reprogram them.
There are a few aftermarket ECU's available to run auto's or engine/auto combinations. All they need to do is program what the outputs should be when they recieve a given input.
As for the 1UZ-FE head on a 2UZ... i dunno!
As far as an indecent proposal goes, I'd accept nothing less than $100,000 to tolerate buggery. Any less and it's just not worth the psychological trauma.
As far as running the thing you could just use your stock ECU with an interceptor like a UniChip, SMT-6 or Chiptorque Xeed to tweak the mixtures. Going to aftermarket ECU would be a little extreme!
Richard.

Going to an aftermarket ECU would be wise!..
I don't see why it would be extreme to fit a product that is going to allow you to optimise your fuel delivery, ignition timing and lambda settings instead of comprimising them with the OME product.
But That's just my opinion!

I have a Unichip on my 1UZ-FE and these seem pretty versatile.
Personally I would prefer a 2UZ-FE to my 1UZ-FE since I prefer more torque for 4WD'ing.
I suppose Toyota thought that too when they developed the 2UZ, which I think was after the 1UZ had been around for a while...
I would not swap the head over either but I am no mechanic. More interested in reliability than outright HP.
Maybe the 3UZ head on a 2UZ....

I agree with you but a couple of ECU manufacturers say that you can't do a full ecu conversion with the electronic auto. I don't think they want to know about it. HOWEVER I know marks advertise a kit to put a 5.7 EFI in a cruiser using the factory electronic auto. If they can do it why can't a an aftermrket one be utilised. I know the 1/2UZ-Fe motor a bell housing bolts to the auto but how do you get it to work? I also wonder what do marks do different. What you say makes sense but sh*t these manufacturers know stuff all unless it is a subaru or lancer (you know what i mean)
