Maybe even turn the ignition key until you hear a loud continuous noise and see if it has less of the "Fosters flop"

im getting flamed :D i change to a burrito but still no good :?:

yeh tacho pointing straight down past 0

my hilux was sitting in the shed for about 3 months when doing my high steer( yes i work slow) and when i finish rolled it out to start wouldnt crank tried jump starting wouldnt take charge got a mate to pull start me , started but then i notived tacho pointing straight down hit the dash and i went to 0 i replaced battery cause it wouldnt take charge on the charger but still points down when when turned off and when running moves to 0

im thinking some sort of fusable link but havent looked into i that much any help would be great before i take it on

Pedal futherest the right you put your foot on it or a brick whatever works best i found brick with my 2.8 is the go. if you have a manual trace the wire in the circut on see if it's broken.I'll have a look on mine in the not to distant future

It sounds like the tacho now registers power on, but not engine running.

I'd say dodgy connection(s) on the dash panel.

Maybe it's pointing at 6 oclock, in which case it's broken, and you need a new one
