Have the same mysteriuos sound coming from underneath my truck also.
6" lovells, everything is new, springs, shocks, rods, bushes, could it be the springs sliding in the seats????
I get all sorts of clunks from my springs (albiet leaves), and apparently steering gear, when it's wet (even just after a wash). Checked and nothing is loose/binding.
my 78 series make a clunk in the front when I turn sharply at low speed, it did that from new. I guessed it was the coils.
60,000km later it's no worse.
Stu
sounds like the spring is turning in it's seat. get someone to turn the wheel whilst looking at the springs, if they move around thats probably the noise you are hearing. grab the spring and do the same again. a small bit of rubbber say 5mm in diameter placed at either end of the spring should help. don't forget to secure the bubber somehow.
I had the same problem in my 60 series leaf springs, rebuilt them with grease between them and did the shackle bushes. No noise for a fair while, but it's back now when it's wet.
No problems with the coils on the 80 series yet!!
