80 series ARB compressor locations...

Post by Surfin Alec »

Hi all,

Just about to try to mount my ARB compressor in the 80 and just wondering where the common places for mounting is.

Its to run 2 lockers and pump up tyres. I also have the ARB factory wiring loom which I intend to run the switches to the dash right near the drivers door.

Only space under the bonnet I see would be just in front the firewall (on the guard) on the passenger side.

Thanks,

Alec

Plenty of room in the rear quarters of the car, especially on the drivers side. And the compressor will be getting less dust/mud in there. But when pumping tyres I would leave the compartment open to help cool the compressor. Just use the original plastic door there, remove the rear section. You could use the space to hold your hoses etc too. ;)

But others like to use the area for a couple of amps, crossovers

I've also put a cig socket in there for the fridge, running off the second battery. While you run the cables, run an extra one for this purpose! That way the compressor is also powered via this cable. ;)

Mine is under the drivers seat to keep it out of the dust/mud/water. Only downside is it's noisy and can wake the kids when it comes on and now the seals have gone in the locker it is pumping back oil from the diff when disengages. :bad-words: I'll be fixing that soon.

I placed mine in the engine bay on the passanger side gard and is fine. Probably less noise than inside the cab?
I intend to move mine into the back next to the fridge and house it in a carpeted box with the air connector either on the carpeted front or through the floor and run lines front and back! In the carpeted box it should help keep th enoise down a little...I hope!

Yeah I got 2 batteries as well. Cant mount it under the brake M/C as the cruise is there. Looks like the passenger side under bonnet is the go as I dont want it inside...too noisey.

Thanks,

Alec
