axle seals

Post by jacka »

Noticed an oil leak on the right rear of my sierra, and grease leaking from the LHF around the balljoint area.
I've been advised that the axle seals are gone, just wondering, I had my diff ratios done by my mechanic around 3 mths ago, is this something he could be responsible for, or is it a wear and tear issue?

Could be either, but if the mechanic had nicked the seals as he was reinstalling the axle shafts it probably would have shown before now. Has it just started???

In any case they are subject to wear & tear, and not being too expensive i'd suck it up & replace them.

If I was pulling the axles and the seals hadn't been done recently I would replace them if they were leaking or not.
