EFS Vs OME Vs Tough dog! Your help needed

looking for suspesion for my bundera. I know a bit about OME, but not alot of efs and tough dog.

I just came across a price for efs suspension kits for and 80 series ( im assuming a bundera would be similar price):

"Kit includes - 2 x front coils, 2x rear colis, 4 x shockabsorbers (36mm twin tube gas), 1x steering damper (35mm large bore). $680"

That sounds pretty cheap to me. what are the benefits and feartures of the 3 suspension and also a approx. cost.

I think OME are the bees knees in suspension gear in Aus. I wish they made some for mine

Approx price on the efs would be about $680

Ring up a dealer and get a price on OME, and see if the difference is worth it to you.

ome are prety dam good i have a 50mm lift in my 80 and it rides very soft and flexes as good as a lovels 3i plus allmost no sag

OME will cost you an arm and a leg and be as good as EFS. I have heavy duty coil springs in my Patrol and it flexs and rides as good if not better than the softer springs in my race truck on road. Go the EFS kit you will not regret it.

Do EFS do a kit with a 50mm lift for a bundera?

how about tough dog. whats there stance in 4wd suspension? any good?

EFS have a very good reputation but just dont do the larger lifts but 50mm should not be a problem.

I was looking at OME for my rodeo and ended up going with TJM XGS, feature wise they were almost identical as well as spec wise, TJM guarenteed 50mm lift as well, OME didn't

They were also cheaper

Might be worth checking out

badger has got a bundera as well he found out some stuff about using gq or 80 series stock coils aparently if gives you like a 2 in lift of there abouts and is soft as but am unsure about the particulars best of asking him

standard 80s front springs will give round 4" lift

you dont realy need to buy an actual kit, just get longer shocks and springs and a steering dampner, i have lovell springs and ironman shocks rides good and travels good aswell (managed to pop the left rear spring off its perch so it was sitting on a angle not vertical

)

IIRC OME has NEVER listed a kit for bunderas. The can sell you coils and shocks but they modify shocks intended for other applications, to suit the rear.

grab yourelf some junk 80 series fron springs and bang them in all round. 80 series front shocks will work int he front (std height 80s shocks are good for about 2 - 4" lift). shocks for the rear you have to mix and match a bit, an 80 series rear shock will work for the left shock, a GQ/GU patrol rear shock will work for the right. you can do it all for next to nothing with all used stocker bits, depending on which springs you use you will gain 2 - 4". it may be necessary to trim a half-turn of one front coil to get it to sit level.

what sort of trouble? I have have a tough dog 5" under my 80 for 2 years, it has been in 2 different trucks, has done over 40,000km including some hard offroad, and I have never had a problem with it, I think it's fantastic.

I gott a 4inch Tough Dog kit in my 80 and have not had any issues. The adjustable shockers are great for all the stuff I do from road driving to touring to serious(ish) of road and the coils handle great in all these situations. I have heard some stories of them being no good but most of them turned out to be caused by shockers being too short and bottoming out as they were fitted or supplied by lesser skilled 4wd shops.

I know of at least 5 mate over here that have em and they all end up leakin or they jsut dont dampen..

One of my mates BRAND new ssets were stuffed straight away..

They have lived up to their warranty and replaced them most times but i'm over changing them...

Im jsut gunna stick sum elcheapo rs 5000's in my 80 for the time being.. even if i have to put a new set in every year i'll be better off than the slush puppies... i go thru a set of them every 9 months or so..

I'm happy with my EFS springs and shocks. Been in for about 4-5 years without stabi's. Done heaps of hard work. Springs haven't sagged and shocks are still going strong.

Only complaint is shocks aren't long-travel, so get hung up on 'em at full artic.

Like i said, 4-5yrs riding the shockers valves and still going strong

For 2 inch lift there is a bunch of shocks available that will work equally well. Out of the brands mentioned in this thread get the ones that you can get for the cheapest price. Don't stray or believe sales reps that only sell one brand.
For 3 inch lift my choice would be Dobinsons, EFS, Procomps.
Over 4-5 inch lift Dobinsons or Procomps(For Patrol) Anything else just Procomps.

Dumdunce it is just as Crankycruiser says.
Most people are happy with them but they haven't soughted out the leaky valve prob yet. Rancho seem to fail also especially on corrugations. Most will work well but the Patrols and Cruisers are pretty tough on shocks.

I have a 4-5 inch lift using dobsons springs and OME shocks. Works really well. Flex is great and it rides great. It really comes to its own though on fast bumpy dirt tracks
