How leagl are these in Queenssland

Post by aliread »

Need to know how legal one of these would be in Queensland
They are made on a Rangie / Disco 1 Chassis. Which you have to buy a donor truck. to make it to look like this. Comes from UK in Kit form and then make it up.
They do a racing one and winch challenge one
I would be going for the winch challenge model
Thsi is a vid of one from Top Gear

You could make your own, theoretically.

Body swap on a RR/Disco chassis. Engine swap too...or just beef up the 3.9 V8.

Very possible.

The Rhino Buggies at Yatala are kit bodies put onto Patrol chassis, and they are registerable, insurable, and legal.

So why not?

These CGI renderings, straight out of Bowler-Offroad's design studio, reveal an exclusive first look at Bowlers next generation desert racers! Currently being developed under the code name "Maxim", both the Bowler "Race" and Bowler "Road" are based on Land Rovers Range Rover Sport equipment and design. These next generation off-road racers are designed to cope with the harshest events the World Off-Road Rally circuit can provide!
Fully independent adjustable suspension ensure traction over the roughest terrain, a wider track to give better handling in tight technical stages and a longer 108-inch wheelbase provides greater stability and poise at speed.
These new Bowlers will provide the same thrill and performance of previous race vehicle's but with the added style and refinement of a performance coupe.
Aggressive muscular lines are a reminder of the Bowlers racing heritage and the sculpted front side vents provide engine cooling while rear intakes supply cool air for both the brakes and dampers.
Speed is all important in off-road rally competitions. A new lightweight tubular frame with carbon composite body panels and a 4.2ltr supercharged V8 produce a vehicle capable of propelling you from 0 -102kmph in 4.2 seconds!

Drew Bowler told us "we will have prototypes running this summer and hopefully a couple of cars in next years Dakar"! Drew also mentioned, " The new car will primarily be a Rally car but it will be road legal and hopefully a little more user friendly than the current Wildcat".

More specifications revealed below:

BOWLER "RACE"

Length - 4268mm

Width - 2000mm

I know a few people who have built their own hybrids in QLD and have had them engineered and approved. It is not too difficult, but costs about $1000 or more for all the approvals.

is the one at the top of the page a tomcat???

i think that tomcat got the original stuff that bowler was doing after they moved into full spaceframe stuff, running d2 axles, watts rear end and coilovers all round.

still looks like fun

theres a very very nice polish tomcat getting about on maxi-drive portals and has had some success in russia

cheers, serg

the one posted at the top does not look like a tomcat at all.. Just looks like a Hybrid series vehicle on a coiler chassis...

The pic at the top is definately on the tomcat website. I don't mind the look but would rather proper windows and a roof.
Thanks,

They are the same of sorts. Bowler and tom cat used to be the same thing untill they went their differant ways
